In 2011 Animal Liberation ACT held a demonstration at Thoroughbred Park in Canberra before the Melbourne Cup race day to highlight the animal cruelty involved in the horse racing industry.

Jess and Lara (ALACT committee members) travelled up to Sydney to attend the 2011 Cruelty Free Festival put on by Animal Liberation NSW. They held a Big Birds, Big Cruelty stall and raised awareness about the plight of factory-farmed turkeys in Australia.
The 2011 Living Green Festival, sponsored by Animal Liberation ACT, was a huge success with nearly 2,000 people attending! The Albert Hall was packed with food and market stalls inside and out. Click on to see more about this awesome vegan festival - the first of its kind in Canberra!
Animal Liberation ACT committee members were out at ANU's Bush Week market day during second semester 2011 to promote Animal Liberation and educate about animal issues.
Animal Liberation ACT has been campaigning to help end live animal export. In 2011 we participated in the National Days of Action outside Parliament House, gathered hundreds of signatures on a petition demanding the ACT federal Members of Parliament ban the cruel trade, braved the freezing wind and rain to urge politicians to vote in favour of the Greens’ and Independents’ bills to ban live export, and made a submission to the 2011 Senate Committee Inquiry into animal welfare standards in Australia’s live export markets (click here for ALACT’s submission).
